Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have any vaccination requirements for your patients?

We offer informed choice and decision making to all of our patients regarding vaccinations. We believe the decision to vaccinate is a highly personal choice, and support standard and delayed vaccine schedules, as well as the choice to decline vaccines altogether. We are more than happy to discuss each of these options thoroughly with you at your visit.

How long are your appointment times?

We strive to offer the most thorough healthcare possible, which means appointments are longer than the conventional medicine model. Generally, we reserve time for at least an hour at your first appointment to develop a complete health record and conduct a chart review, and subsequent appointments typically last 30 minutes to an hour. A rushed appointment leads to shallow care and unanswered questions, so our general rule is to dedicate as much time as is needed – whether that is 15 minutes or 2 hours.

What are the advantages to a membership plan?

Membership plans offer convenient, set monthly pricing, and include unlimited appointments plus the vast majority of services that we offer without any additional cost. They are a fantastic option for those who visit the doctor more frequently, or for those who do not carry conventional health insurance coverage. In addition, membership brings perks like text access to your provider for minor concerns, and emergency after-hour support.

Do I have to be a member to be your patient?

Nope! If you prefer to pay each time you visit us, then you can simply use our pay-per-visit pricing structure, similar to how you would pay a copay.

What conditions do you treat?

Our staff is trained to manage a wide breadth of chronic conditions. Whether it is asthma in children or diabetes in adults, we have the tools to manage your health. In addition, we have connections with specialists we trust to refer you to for further evaluation and care. For questions about treatment for specific disease processes, please call the office.

Do you accept HSA payments?

Yes! We process all payments through QuickBooks, and accept credit cards, debits cards, HSA cards, direct bank transfers, and checks. For monthly membership, we even offer automatic bill pay options.

Do you accept insurance?

At Empowered Family Health, we do not accept insurance at this time. We strive to set fair cash pay prices that allow us to provide you the best care possible, without insurance interference. If you request, we are more than happy to provide you with documentation of our services rendered, which you may then choose to submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Any lab work conducted in the office will be billed separately to your insurance through Quest.

Can you prescribe medications?

Of course! Nurse practitioners are trained in medication and prescription management. We also offer alternative treatment options, such as supplements, herbs, and holistic, natural remedies. Please note, per our policy, we do not prescribe any controlled substances.

Do you offer home visits?

We offer home visits at an additional rate. Please contact the office directly to discuss our home care and home visit options.

Do you offer same-day or sick appointments?

Definitely! Our goal is to offer our patients timely appointments, most often with same-day or next-day appointment availability. We understand it is a common frustration to call your provider and be told you need to wait days or even weeks to be seen. We will do our very best to prevent this, and may even offer special early morning or late evening appointments at our providers’ discretion.

Why is there a registration fee?

As a new patient, there is a lot of behind-the-scenes action going on to input your information into our system — from requesting your prior charts from other providers, to setting up your new chart in our system, to creating a billing profile – we spend significant time integrating our new patients to help create a seamless transition. That being said, this takes a lot of time and effort on our end, and this one-time per patient fee helps cover our investment into you.
